Victorias celebrated the 109th Malihaw Festival in honor of Our Lady of Victory this April. This is a joint celebration of Victorias City and the Our Lady of Victory Parish (OLVP), where various events were lined up for Victoriahanons and neighboring towns to enjoy. The activity kicked off with a Diana, motorcade and short opening program participated by the different socio and civic sectors at the Victorias City Public Plaza last April 24. Along with the City, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Jose Rey Erexima with his Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Garry Escalera and the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) also hosted different activities for the patronal fiesta. One of these is the Parish’s Free Baptism activity that benefitted more than 60 Victoriahanons at the OLVP Church last April 17. Another activity of the Church was the Zumba-Run 2015 sponsored by the Parish Youth Ministry with more than 200 participants. OLVP also conducted a free Mass Wedding to 38 Victoriahanon couples last April 22. An Invitational Basketball Game between the “Padres”, team of the priests from the City and the Province and the “City de Palabras”, team of the City employees was held at the Brgy. V Hall Court last April 23 where the City’s team won with the score of 87-78.
The Men’s Volleyball, Women’s Council Folkdance Competition and RMN Hip-Hop Dance Competition took place at the Victorias City Public Plaza last April 24. On April 25, the OLVP Medical Mission and Feeding Program, City’s “Pasidungog sa Pinaka-maayo nga Tapasero kag Engkargado” at Hda. Ofelia took place in the morning while the Skate Board Competition and Boxing, in the afternoon. The Ginoong Victorias was held at the Victorias City Public Plaza in the evening of the same day. During the celebration’s highlights last April 26, a Diana, Procession of the Our Lady of Victory, Concelebrated Mass with Blessing of the OLVP Convent, Chess Tournament, Bangka Race from Magnanud Bridge to Daan Banwa Port, Fluvial Parade and Re-Enactment of Malihaw’s History, Procession and Mass took place. The “Balik Victorias Cultural Show” and Malihaw Fashion Night brought entertainment to spectators at the Victorias City Public Plaza in the evening. The “Bandahan sa Kioskohan” went on from April 24-26 while the Agri Fair and Garden Show from April 22-26.
