
In celebration of Women’s International Day, the City of Victorias under the leadership of Mayor Francis Frederick P. Palanca through the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ms. Joy S. Reunir, RSW, holds a lecture on the History of Women’s Day Celebration and the Role of Women in Nation Building with Atty. Andrea Lizares Sy, Provincial Council for Women Chairperson, as the Guest Speaker at Victorias City Coliseum and Recreational CenterThe lecture was attended by VAWC Desk Officers, Women’s Council Presidents, Barangay Kagawad Committee Chair on Women and Family Welfare Programs, Solo Parents, Person with Disabilities, the youth sector, uniformed men and women from PNP Victorias, City Human Resource Management Office Personnel, and representatives from the City Health Office. Incumbent City Councilors Nity Sta Ana Bartolome, Virginia Adorio, and Audie Malaga were also present to show their support for this City’s undertaking Women’s International Day is celebrated annually on March 8 to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also celebrated to raise awareness of the ongoing efforts of women who seek gender parity. The theme of 2022 International Women’s Day is “gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”.
