The City of Victorias commemorated the 9th Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Day with a wreath laying at his statue during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the Public Plaza.

Don Alejandro was a philanthropist and donated around 20 hectares of land to the City Government of Victorias 116 years ago.

City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, and the City Councilors led the wreath laying.

Moreover, in his message, Mayor Benitez mentioned the recent activities and projects implemented in the previous week.

This includes the turnover of a two-story building to Barangay Estado National High School – Gawahon Class, the groundbreaking ceremony of the PNP Sub Station at Villa Victorias, the City Development Council 4th quarter meeting, town hall meeting for youth, the first-ever MassKara sa Panaad celebration, and the Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers PH (OSHDP) Summit 2022 where he was selected as a panel speaker on New Breed of Leaders, New Brand of Good Governance Panel Session.

He also mentioned the promulgation of the Republic Act 11935 which mandates the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on December 5, 2022, and is rescheduled to October 2023.

The City Mayor formally welcomed and congratulated Dr. Thea Mae Dino, the newly appointed Medical Officer III in the City Health Office.

Furthermore, the City Government of Victorias through the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development donated thermal scanners to 48 Child Development Centers and one National Child Development Center.
