Brief History of Barangay IV

Barangay IV was created under Presidential Decree No. 86 issued by former President Ferdinand E. Marcos on December 31, 1972.


It is situated at the heart of the city and surrounded by the different government offices, a Day Care Center, Police Station, DOH, Phil National Bank, and the Public Plaza.There are two public Elementary schools that offers free education for K1-6, the Victorias Elementary School and Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Memorial Elementary School and which the latter was named in honor of the late Don Alejandro Acuña who donated a parcel of land for education way back then. Private entrepreneurship and businesses also surrounds Barangay IV area.


It’s accessibility to commercial establishments and transportation is within a walking distance perimeter.


The Barangay IV Hall stands in adjacent with Victorias Elem. School.


The residents speaks Hiligaynon and mostly are believers of the Roman Catholic. Barangay IV celebrates the Feast of the patroness, Our Lady of Lourdes every February 11.

Its accessibility to commercial establishments and transportation is within a walking distance perimeter. 


It has a total land area of 9.32 ha. Ginsang-an river separates/ boundaries of Barangay IV and Barangay XIII.Barangay IV has a population of 1,184. The source of livelihood varies from employment, entrepreneurship and in labor sector. The area is divided into Six (6) Zones namely: Zone 1 covers a block from Osmeña Street, Magsaysay St. and Montinola St. Zone 2 covers a block from Montinola St. Yap Quiña St. and Magsaysay St. Zone 3 covers a block from Montinola St. Magsaysay St. and Rizal St., Zone 4 covers a block from Montinola St., and Rizal St., Magsaysay St., and Quezon St., Zone 5 covers a block from Quezon St. and Magsaysay Extension, Zone 6 covers the Quezon St. area and Northern part of Jover St.
