n an effort to strengthen youth preparedness and promote safety in the community, a three-day Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Training under Project HEY (Honing and Empowering the Youth) was conducted at the Victorias City Command and Evacuation Center from June 4 to 6.

The training aimed to equip 72 members of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) with essential emergency response skills and life-saving techniques.

Participants were trained to act decisively and responsibly during emergencies to help ensure safer environments for their communities.

The program also aimed to instill a sense of responsibility in the youth, encouraging them to take proactive roles in promoting health and safety in schools, homes, and public spaces.

By fostering a culture of preparedness, the training engaged the youth in creating and maintaining safer spaces for everyone around them.

The sessions were led by City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rodolfo QE Retirado, along with his team composed of Josie Anne Luzarita, Gary Apostol, Johnry Francisco, and Reynalyn Bedoya.

The training was implemented by the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by CSWD Officer Joy Reunir, RSW, and Youth Welfare Program Implementer Ricky Lapidante Jr., RSW. *
