VARIOUS SECTORAL GROUPS PLANT 2000 SEEDLINGS FOR WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

Over 300 participants from various sectoral groups joined the Multi-Sectoral Mangrove Planting Day and planted a total of 2,000 Malihaw and Baklaw seedlings at the Mangrove Eco-Trail of Barangay VI-A on June 5.
The activity is in celebration of the World Environment and Barangay VI-A’s LCA Day, which is part of the activities for this year’s City Environment Week.
The seedlings were donated by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) who were also part of the Mangrove Planting Activity, alongside representatives from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, and Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR).
Barangay VI-A’s Punong Barangay Anna Mae Claro kicked off the activity with an welcome message, expressing her gratitude to the participants for contributing in the preservation of her Barangays Mangrove Eco-Trail.
Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee Chair on Natural Resources, Environmental Resources, and Ecology Dino Jose Maria Acuña gave an inspirational message for the participants emphasizing the importance of caring for our surroundings.
Participants for the Mangrove Planting Activity included the Environment Week Committee headed by Victorias City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Lara Ann Garcia, Barangay VI-A Council, Victorias City Employees, and other groups from various sectors in Victorias.
Following the Tree Planting Activity, the Barangay VI-A Coastal Wetlands Local Conservation Management Board, held their second quarterly meeting at Barangay VI-A’s Training Center.
This collaborative activity with the City of Victorias and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental serves as a reminder that the fight for sustainability needs a collective effort from various members of society. *
