VICTORIAS CITY HONORS MODERN-DAY HEROES IN OFW SUMMIT 2025

Over 500 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families gathered for the highly anticipated Victorias City OFW Summit 2025, a celebration of the sacrifices and vital contributions of OFWs to both the local and national economy, held at the Victorias City Command and Evacuation Center on April 30.


Organized by the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Office of Victorias City, the summit aimed to recognize the dedication of OFWs while also providing avenues for strengthening family ties, promoting emotional well-being, and enhancing awareness of government programs and financial literacy.


The event was graced by several prominent guests and resource speakers from national and provincial government agencies.


Present were SP Committee Chair on OFWs/Migrant Workers Dexter Senido, OIC Regional Director of the Department of Migrant Workers Mglenda Aligonza, OIC Regional Director of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration James Mendiola, and Provincial Head of DOLE-Negros Occidental Provincial Office Carmela Abella.


Also in attendance were Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry Lynna Joy Bernal, Chief of Police of Victorias City Police Station PLTCOL Trence Paul Sta. Ana, PESO Manager of the Provincial Public Employment Service Office Karen Dinsay, PESO Manager of Victorias Public Employment Service Office Faith Bacucang, Victorias City OFW Focal Person Marjorie Ayco, President of the OFW Negros Occidental Federation Inc. Salvacion Barrios, and Team Head for Overseas Filipino Programs for Visayas of BDO Remittance Ma. Paz Meso.


The summit featured educational talks, updates on government services, and financial empowerment sessions designed to equip OFWs and their families with tools for a more secure future.


Participants engaged in interactive activities that encouraged family bonding and community solidarity.


The event concluded with a raffle draw where 50 lucky winners received 5 kilograms of rice each, while 5 grand winners took home a full sack of rice.


The Victorias City OFW Summit 2025 not only celebrated the enduring strength and spirit of OFWs but also reinforced the city's commitment to supporting its modern-day heroes through meaningful programs and partnerships. *
