Victorias City took a major step in advancing its smart city vision with the Packetworx Tech Demonstration and Collaboration Meeting held at the 2nd Floor Lobby of City Hall on April 10.

Building on the milestone of receiving IoT-powered disaster monitoring sensors from Packetworx Inc. last November 28, 2023, the meeting showcased how Victorias is leveraging innovation to improve disaster preparedness and public safety.

The city is one of only five local government units in the Philippines—and the first in Western Visayas—to adopt this cutting-edge technology.

In his message, Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez emphasized how the sensors have strengthened the city’s disaster preparedness and response, especially during emergencies and flooding incidents.

He also highlighted the city’s commitment to smart city development, disaster preparedness, and environmental sensing.

Technical Presales Manager Emerson Mangalili led the live demonstration, showcasing the Packetworx dashboard which provides real-time data on rainfall, river flooding, air quality, and heat index—critical information for local emergency response and planning.

Packetworx Special Projects Officer Alyssa Antonio delivered the project background on behalf of CEO Jose Arnold Bagabaldo, with Chief Commercial Officer Jojo Marasigan providing project updates and Account Manager Jay Angeles also in attendance.

City officials, department heads, punong barangays, and other key stakeholders attended the event, showing strong support for the city’s transition into a data-driven and disaster-resilient smart city. *
