VICTORIAS CITY RECOGNIZES YOUTH CREATIVITY IN VICTORIASANON YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL - August 25, 2024

As part of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2024 celebration, Victorias City honored the exceptional talents of young filmmakers in the Victoriasanon Youth Film Festival, highlighting youth perspectives on social issues through the lens of digital storytelling at the Don Alejandro Acuña Yap Quiña Arts and Cultural Center last August 25.


The event was headed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) through the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Pederasyon and the Local Youth Development Council.


The film festival brought together youth representatives from all barangays to showcase their creative works addressing complex issues such as mental health, social pressure, violence, abuse, and inequality.

The top winners included Best Film 1st Place, awarded to “Ang Pulos Sang Wala Pulos” by PYAP Brgy. XIV and PYAP Brgy. XXI.


The same film also earned Best Director and Best Editing for Roginico Pecardal, as well as Best Actress for April Bayoran's standout performance.


“Paghimud-os” by PYAP Brgy. VII and PYAP Brgy. XIX-A took home Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Khin Hiavia, while Best Supporting Actress went to Crissa Mae Leonidas for her role in Nanay Cande.


“Life of Social Media Influencer” by PYAP Brgy. III and PYAP Brgy. XIII won Best Production Design and Best Actor for Ruel Robleza’s performance. The film also secured the Best Film 3rd Place.


The Best Film 2nd Place and Best Cinematography awards were claimed by “Taliambong” by PYAP Brgy. VIII and PYAP Brgy. XX, which also won Best Film Poster.


The Victoriasanon Youth Film Festival themed "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," aimed to empower young people through creative expression while raising awareness of critical issues impacting today’s youth.


Through this event, Victorias City continues to support and encourage its youth to use digital platforms for positive change and social progress. *
