VICTORIAS CITY SHOWCASES DIGITAL INNOVATIONS AT EODB FORUM 2024

Victorias City highlighted its digital advancements at the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Forum 2024, hosted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City on October 17.

Themed "Fostering Transformative eGovernance for Sustainable Local Economic Development," the event highlighted the critical role of digitalization in improving local government service delivery, with Victorias City showcasing its successful Paleng-QR initiative.

Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez was among the guest presenters, where he shared the city's achievements in advancing digital payment systems, particularly the implementation of the Paleng-QR initiative via a video message.

This initiative has revolutionized market transactions in Victorias City by integrating digital payments, enabling smoother and more efficient operations for vendors and customers alike.

Mayor Javi emphasized that these digital efforts are part of the city’s broader goal to create a smart and inclusive community that embraces innovation for local economic growth.

The Mayor's video presentation further demonstrated the key elements of the Paleng-QR system, showcasing its ease of use, accessibility, and positive impact on market operations.

It reinforced Victorias City's leadership in adopting new technologies to enhance public services.

Representing the City, OIC-Market Supervisor Samson Ganzon, Jr. was present at the event, to share Victorias City’s commitment to digital transformation.

The EODB Forum 2024 gathered Local Chief Executives and functionaries from the Visayas Cluster, with a special focus on replicable digital initiatives that streamline processes, boost efficiency, and strengthen governance.

The discussions underscored the importance of eGovernance in fostering sustainable local economic development, particularly in the post-pandemic era.

The forum concluded with an open discussion, where participants shared ideas on replicating successful digital initiatives in their respective localities.

The Paleng-QR initiative, along with other digital innovations of Victorias City, continues to position the city as a leader in digital transformation, aiming for more efficient governance and inclusive economic growth for its residents.
